Midnight Magazine Imagine a bright sunny Sunday, early in the day, early in spring, the air is crisp and clean, and you are working. You are a truck driver. You pick up dangerous industrial wastes in the east side of LA, and deliver them to a plant in Mexico that makes Guess jeans. You love listening to KROQ, and are having a grand time. But suddenly, a cloud covers the sun, and your radio starts acting up. Partly Cloudy have managed to combine industrial, and gloomy sounds, with almost psychotic lyrics, to create a truly unique sound. The album opens with an almost pop number, Trouble. The album slowly evolves through Partly Cloudy's styles, touching on a nightmare, urban angst Bus Ride, and ending with a violently emotional number Unhallowed Ground. Partly Cloudy, with the upcoming release are preparing to again drive their own industrial wastes, and anti-pop sensibilities into the LA club scene. They will be performing early in June, and the release should follow soon after.
You should miss neither this band, nor their release. | |||||
| Catazine I was privileged to participate as the Disc Jockey at Jack (Anti Club) New Years Eve Party held downtown LA. Live acts included Partly Cloudy, The Blue Daises, and My Sin. All turned in fine performances, but the one that caught my ears was Partly Cloudy. Mixing Industrial strength keyboards with rhythm machines and a power drummer, Partly Cloudy is a party band that does not lose its cool. Only goes to show. Art Bands can sound good. by
